Project Description

This project was developed as a robust solution for managing product component information, addressing the complexities of data handling in modern enterprises. This innovative application reads product component details from Excel spreadsheets stored on SharePoint, meticulously reviews the data, and seamlessly saves it to a structured database. Users benefit from advanced search capabilities, allowing them to effortlessly locate products by their ECID (Electronic Component Identifier) using the comprehensive database. In addition to its powerful data management features, this project supports the upload and integration of PDF files containing detailed product information into SQL. This functionality ensures that all relevant documentation is centrally stored and easily accessible. By leveraging these capabilities, this project facilitates the generation of ZIP files for individual products. Each ZIP file is meticulously compiled to include all associated product information in XML format, alongside the relevant PDF documents, providing a complete and organized package.

Component Info Processor

Problem

Before the implementation of this project, the organization faced significant challenges with managing product component information. The process of reviewing and extracting data from Excel spreadsheets stored on SharePoint, ensuring its accuracy before saving it into the database, and handling PDF uploads for product information was cumbersome and error-prone. This manual approach not only consumed considerable time and resources but also introduced the risk of inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the data. Moreover, the lack of automation led to delays in accessing critical information and hindered the organization's ability to respond promptly to customer needs and market demands.

Solution

The solution involved creating a dynamic Canvas App that seamlessly integrated data from SQL, SharePoint, and Excel. Leveraging Power Automate Flows, the app automated the generation of XML and PDF files, streamlined file organization into folders, archived documents, and stored them securely on SharePoint. Files were efficiently saved to the database using Flows that converted them to base64 format, ensuring data integrity and accessibility across platforms. This comprehensive approach not only enhanced data management efficiency but also improved organizational workflow by automating critical tasks and reducing manual intervention.
