Our customer is a telematics provider, which developed proprietary truck hardware that monitors various parameters, including location. Within their operations, tasks like device assembly and disassembly are pivotal. The project aimed to streamline these processes, enabling seamless ingestion of data from device assemblers into a centralized system. This data would then be accessible to administrators and integrated with other IT systems for centralized truck monitoring.
The assembly, disassembly, and replacement steps in the business process require manual work. Without a digital tool, it becomes inconvenient to pass information and integrate with the system developed on top of the Microsoft ecosystem. System administrators are also tasked with overseeing data from all assemblers.
A decision was made to implement a Power Apps solution that could be utilized by assembler employees equipped with mobile devices. This Canvas App included various features for different operations. The data generated from these operations, such as mappings between license plates and device IDs and other crucial data points, was subsequently collected and stored in the Microsoft Dataverse database. Finally, operator employees would utilize a distinct Model-Driven App to oversee this data.
